Roller Coaster

That is what this week has been. It started on Sunday with the passing of President Hinckley. I felt sad for us because he was so great and I will miss him. But I felt happy for him to return to his wife and all the people who love him there. I watched his funeral last night and I laughed at so many parts! ( Love the elevator story!) There were so many great things said. It really was a celebration of his life on earth. What a life he had!
On Tuesday morning we found out that a young father in our ward passed away in his sleep on a field trip with his son. He leaves behind 5 young kids and his young wife. His 7- year old is in our primary class. I didn't know him too well because he was such a quiet man, but I did know his wife and just feel for her and what she is going through. But she is one of the strongest people I have ever seen and know she will pull through even stronger. I just wish she didn't have to go through it at all. I helped with the luncheon yesterday after the funeral and it was so nice to see how the ward and community has stepped up. There was more food donated than I have ever seen. We had to give tons away to families in the ward and to her family as well. Someone said it was as if the food had babies! It just seemed to multiply! She was so touched to see the support she had been given.
We are so lucky to be in such a great ward. I was reminded of that yesterday and today at church. We have such a great Bishop who Tyler and I both love. There is always someone doing something for someone else. We are so blessed to be here.
The whole thing made me realize what is important. On Tuesday before I found this out I had been having a pity party for myself about things that do not matter in the grand scheme of things and quickly I was snapped back to reality to realize what is really important.
On a lesser scale, yesterday after my run Tyler left to play football with some guys from the ward and I was giving Hailee a bath after she drenched herself in perfume. I was washing her hair and lost my footing and fell hitting my hip and elbow hard on the side of the tub and then dropped hard on the floor. I am so sore today with a nasty bruise on my hip. I am not sure if the soreness is from all the hills or the fall! :)
But I am glad this week is coming to and end. It has been a crazy emotional week for everyone around our ward and community. We did have a nice Superbowl with some friends and Cohen mastered "real" crawling tonight. I look forward to going to Redding later this week to visit family while Tyler is in Utah snowboarding. Let's hope this week is better.

It has been quite a week! I'm sure Monica is so grateful for all of the support her and the family has been blessed to receive. You're right. You are so lucky to be in your ward. It is an amazing ward with a wonderful man for a Bishop. How I miss everything about it! Have fun in Redding with your fam!

So tragic. Do they know what they cause was? I can't even imagine losing Jody. But especially with young children.

I hope your body is feeling better!
