Thinking Out Loud

So I am thinking about getting a job a few nights a week. We are working really hard to get all our debt paid off. We paid off a lot last year and are making some progress this year. I have done research on how to do it and we are doing a lot of the stuff they say to do. Lowered our phone plan by $40 (very very basic service), we don't go out much, no big vacations (we are putting some away each month for a Disney trip that has been planned forever), just doing the best we can basically. Hailee is in preschool so I guess that is an extra but if you know Hailee that is a necessity. :) We don't live above our means, but we are paying for bad decisions of the past few years (cars and commission only jobs) We are wanting to be totally debt free by the time we are 30 so in just over 2 years. By all the reading I have done we are doing what we can and living by a budget but the only thing we are not doing is adding more revenue. So I am trying to think of something I can do. Everything u can do online is a scam. So I am leaning toward serving again. I know I could get on at few places since I know people from when I did it back in college. It is the best money for the least hours when you are looking at part-time work. Not really what I want to do, but I think it will get us to our goal much faster than we thought. My goal is to save enough by the time my lease on the Nissan is up and pay cash for a used car rather than get a whole new payment. That would be HUGE!
I just worry about having to work every weekend night and holidays. But it would be so temporary and in the end so worth it. Tyler says I could try it and if I really hate it than stop because it is not something I HAVE to do. I just want to free up the big chunk going to debt and start saving and having more fun.
So does anyone have any other advice or any job ideas I could do. I know I can pick up hours at my gym job but $8 an hour 2 hours at a time adds up so slow.

Nothing makes the money like serving. I still have dreams 30 years later of serving. Loved to see those tips! Love the new look of your blog!

I don't know if it's a requiremnt in CA or not to be licensed, but I know the MAC counter girls at Nordstrom make bank....that would be fun!!! On another note...something we've done to cut back is get rid of cable and internet. It sucks sometimes...but it saves us over $100 a month...we have an old school antenna. It's kinda funny and our house is much more peaceful without the constant noise of the tv.

We've been doing the same. Jody has been selling alarm systems on the weekend to bring in more money to pay them off quicker(he did it when we were first married). Also our tax return is helping out huge! I have also started watching extra kids three days a week and I make $150 week. You could look into something like that. I have thought about serving but don't think I have the energy for it. I also did it in high school and college. Good luck! I know how you feel. It's so frustrating!
