We are back from Santa Cruz and I am alive. We had a great time. The weather was perfect, the house was an ideal location, the company was fun, the run was LONG!! 13 miles is a long way! The run was so pretty along the beach and strawberry fields. I felt pretty good for the first 10 miles. Around mile 10 my feet went to sleep so I stopped to shake them out and loosen my shoes and they stayed numb till mile 12. So the last mile wasn't too bad. I finished in 2:25. I wanted to be faster but I did make my goal of under 2:30.
One thing I do know is that I will never do a marathon!! Now that I have had a few days to think about it I will do a Half again someday. On Saturday the whole day afterward I swore that I never would again. But I think it is kinda of like childbirth where you just forget the pain and you do it again.
I had such a good time with my friends as well. We were able to go to eat even though we seemed to have bad luck with choices in restaurants! :) Saturday we were able to lounge around the house and lay on the beach in the afternoon. We went to a celebration dinner and then rode a roller coaster on the Boardwalk to cap it all off. I hope we can do this again someday!
Now it is back to the real world. I am actually at my parent's till this afternoon and then will be back. Now it is on the the gym's Fitness Challenge....

You guys are studs!
Yay! The experience was so much fun. If we had a large group like that I might consider doing it again.
Congrats on the run. It was weird to have so many of you all gone at the same time. I am glad you had fun. I love seeing all the pictures!
You're amazing! I'm sure you felt such a sense of satisfaction after the race. I'm glad it was an all around fun weekend! Running a marathon used to be on my life list, but yea, I never ever run, so I think I will just take it off.
FYI - the comment from fenrisar - their attachment is a virus - Don't open it.
I'm so proud of you Aubs! What an accomplishment!!
Way to go! I am amazed that people can run those distances. I hate running! I would much rather play a sport for exercise. I'm glad you made a fun weekend out of it.
WTG Aubree! You're amazing! I would have dropped after mile 1!
You are like my hero. A crazy hero, but a hero. Nice work!
